New Blow to “Israeli” Ruling Coalition: Failure to Approve Extension of Emergency Draft Order
Seven Knesset members voted against the decision, including Likud Party member Amit Halevi, who expressed grave reservations about the content of the plan. He stated during the session: “The plan, as it stands, is full of problems and can endanger soldiers without good cause or vision”.

According to “Israeli” public broadcaster Kan, the vote marks another blow for the coalition, which has repeatedly failed to pass crucial military and security decisions due to internal disputes among member parties.

Order 8 emergency draft notices are a legal mechanism used to summon reserve soldiers en masse in times of emergency. Any refusal to extend such orders is considered highly sensitive, both politically and from a security standpoint.

War Minister Israel Katz, who participated in the debate, also raised the issue of drafting ultra-Orthodox [Haredi] Jews, stating: “As I have stated before: without legislation achieved through understanding with the Haredi public, there will be no conscription”.
