Cairo On Alert Over Sudan Unrest

The RSF’s capture of El Fasher has widened its control in western Sudan, leaving the army dominant in the east and effectively splitting the nation into rival spheres of influence. This division places Sudan at a critical crossroads and heightens instability along Egypt’s southern border.

Security experts warn that RSF presence near the Sudan-Egypt frontier could enable new smuggling routes and facilitate extremist movements across the African Sahel. Many analysts argue the situation represents a major shift that could push Sudan toward an informal partition.
