Extreme cold is expected to affect almost 80 million people on the US East Coast, ABC News reported.

According to the media outlet, extreme cold warnings are in effect in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont. Notably, New York City is experiencing its coldest winter in more than 20 years.

Certain areas will also see heavy snow.
