Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement and several Palestinian factions have welcomed the recently announced ceasefire in Lebanon, describing it as a victory for Hezbollah and the broader Axis of Resistance against “Israel.”
In a statement issued following the announcement, the political bureau of Ansar Allah congratulated Hezbollah fighters and the Lebanese people on a “historic” achievement, attributing the outcome to the “heroic” steadfastness of the Resistance.
The statement said the heavy losses inflicted on the Israeli occupation forces led to their failure to achieve declared war objectives and ultimately forced them to accept the ceasefire.
Ansar Allah also emphasized that the outcome reflects growing coordination within the Axis of Resistance, spanning Palestine, Iran, Lebanon, Yemen, and Iraq.
The spokesperson for Hamas, Hazem Qassem, said the ceasefire demonstrates once again that “Israel” has failed to impose its objectives, adding that the Resistance in Lebanon proved the inability of the occupying power to dictate outcomes on the ground.
The Popular Resistance Committees, a coalition of Palestinian groups, also described the ceasefire as a significant victory, highlighting what they called strong coordination within the axis of resistance.
In a statement, the group said the inclusion of Lebanon in broader ceasefire discussions reflects strategic unity, adding that Hezbollah’s operations had reshaped the battlefield and prevented “Israel” from achieving its goals, ultimately pushing the United States toward diplomatic solutions.
The ceasefire was announced on Thursday by US President Donald Trump, who said the truce would take effect at midnight Lebanon time.
Lebanese MP from the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc, Hassan Fadlallah, said Iran’s ambassador in Beirut informed officials that the agreement resulted from Iranian diplomatic efforts. He added that Iran would monitor US compliance with the terms, noting that further Iran-US negotiations depend on implementation.
Fadlallah stressed that Hezbollah’s adherence to the ceasefire is conditional on a complete halt to Israeli aggression.
Israelis outraged
The announcement sparked criticism from Israeli political figures, with some describing the agreement as a setback. Itan Davidi, head of the Margaliot settlement, told "Israel’s" Channel 12 that the ceasefire represented “a disgrace and a complete surrender to Iran and the United States.”
Washington had initially accepted a 10-point proposal put forward by Tehran, which included a Lebanon ceasefire, before revising its position following pressure from “Israel.”
According to multiple accounts, Iran warned it would withdraw from talks in Islamabad if attacks on Lebanon continued, prompting US pressure on “Israel” to announce a ceasefire.
