WSJ: Trump Rejects Plan to Occupy Iran’s Kharg Island over Casualty Concerns

According to the publication, military officials had been persuading the White House leader that an operation involving a landing on the island could succeed. 

However, Trump concluded that a ground operation would make US soldiers “easy targets” and could result in “unacceptably high losses”.

After being informed that an American jet had been shot down with two airmen missing, Trump “screamed at aides for hours” and repeatedly said, “The Europeans aren’t helping,” the report added.
