Sheikh Qassem: Soleimani’s Blood Fuels Our Resolve, A Stronger Resistance, A Sovereign Lebanon

At the outset, His Eminence anchored his speech in Islamic principles, recalling that Imam Ali [PBUH] “embodied asceticism and justice” and firmly dismissed corrupt rulers. In this spirit, he praised God “who blessed us with Ali, the Commander of the Faithful,” presenting Imam Ali as a timeless model of leadership grounded in justice, integrity, and accountability.

Turning to the life of the martyred commander Hajj Qassem Soleimani, Sheikh Qassem stated that he rose rapidly through various positions due to “his exceptional qualities.” He emphasized that the martyr possessed “remarkable military competence” and was constantly engaged in training and instruction. Recalling his early experience, he noted that Soleimani fought on the fronts of the Sacred Defense during the eight-year confrontation between Iran and Iraq.

According to the Secretary General, the martyred commander had deep military and political awareness, as he “analyzed and reflected on issues in all their dimensions,” making him truly “a man of the field.”

Sheikh Qassem also shared a personal recollection, stating that he had written the book “Khalifat Allah”, presented it to Soleimani, and later met with him to discuss it, highlighting the martyr’s intellectual depth alongside his operational role.

Sheikh Qassem stressed that Soleimani embodied “a model of obedience to God” and represented “an authentic Islamic project that serves the interests of humanity.”

He noted that the martyr was awarded the Order of Zulfiqar, describing it as “the highest military decoration,” in recognition of his exceptional service.

Elaborating on Soleimani’s leadership and character, the Hezbollah Chief stated that his view of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution His Eminence Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei was one of “love, loyalty, engagement, and obedience,” emphasizing that this relationship with “the wise leadership” was among the key reasons for his success.

He further described the great martyred commander, leader of the Axis of Resistance, as a devoted admirer of Imam Khomeini [may his soul be sanctified].

Sheikh Qassem also highlighted the distinctive relationship between the martyr and the great martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, describing it as one marked by “a unique brotherhood and mutual longing.” He recalled that one day before his martyrdom, Soleimani came to Lebanon to pay his respects to His Eminence Sayyed Hassan, after which he was assassinated by the United States.

Addressing Soleimani’s official responsibilities, Sheikh Qassem noted that he served as commander of the Quds Force since 1998, with the primary objective of supporting “the Palestinian Resistance and Resistance movements across the region,” while working to thwart US schemes.

He stressed that the establishment of the Quds Force and the appointment of Hajj Qassem at its head demonstrated Iran’s “deep commitment to the Palestinian cause.”

According to His Eminence, Hajj Qassem “gave immensely” and possessed both “the capability and the faith” required for this cause. Alongside the martyr’s role, Sheikh Qassem underscored Iran’s leading and supportive position toward the Resistance, Palestine, justice, and humanity.

Reaffirming central priorities, he emphasized the importance of “the Palestinian Resistance, the Palestinian people, Gaza, the West Bank,” and all the sacrifices made by this people.

He described Lebanon as “a model of sacrifice, dignity, and liberation,” noting that it achieved major accomplishments through its resistance, its people, and its army. He also stressed the need to highlight “the sacrificial and pioneering model of Yemen.”

Reflecting on Soleimani’s martyrdom, Sheikh Qassem stated that while the Axis lost Hajj Qassem from among them, he gained “the Medal of Martyrdom in confronting American tyranny.”

Addressing the martyr directly, he affirmed, “We will continue,” adding that his blood “has given us an additional boost,” and that this momentum continues.

Turning to Iraq, the Secretary General highlighted the major role played by Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, stating that Iraq succeeded in bringing down the Daesh “ISIS state” project, which he described as “the downfall of an American project.”

In remembrance and loyalty, he also mentioned the martyrs of the blessed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps among the commanders martyred in the region, as well as five senior Hamas commanders “who played a fundamental role,” and the martyr al-Tabatabaei, who “gave and sacrificed.”

Sheikh Qassem affirmed with confidence that “our path is strong and ongoing,” expressing certainty that it will, God willing, become “even stronger.”

Shifting to a broader geopolitical reading, he stated that global arrogance planted “Israel” for “expansionist goals,” explaining that this planting was linked to controlling future generations so it becomes “the stick and the hand when they need it.”

He noted that the geographical point chosen in the region is “sensitive,” which is precisely why it was selected.

Reflecting on historical transformation, Sheikh Qassem noted that when the Islamic Revolution triumphed in 1979, “the entire scene was overturned,” and Iran was no longer in America’s embrace.

He credited Imam Khomeini with charting Iran’s path away from Western control, adding that with the advent of the blessed Islamic Revolution, “the renaissance of peoples began through resistance yearning for freedom.”

Addressing Hezbollah’s ties with Tehran, Sheikh Qassem described the relationship with Iran as “a very natural one.” He contrasted this with arrogance, which “imposes its conditions and convictions on those who submit to it.” He posed a direct question regarding Iran’s support for Hezbollah—what has Iran taken in return? —and answered clearly that it “has taken nothing.”

According to him, Iran benefits when the region is stable and built on “sound foundations.”

He criticized foreign and Arab tutelage that interferes in the economy and politics, appoints officials, and intervenes to change convictions for its own gains, stressing that these states intervene “to change the direction,” whereas Iran has “never intervened to change the direction.”

Reaffirming Hezbollah’s core convictions, Sheikh Qassem stated that the movement believes America is “tyrannical and aggresses against us,” that Lebanon must be liberated, and that “Israel” is an aggressor.

He reiterated that Hezbollah has taken from Iran while Iran has taken nothing, stressing pride in a relationship that “has given us and taken nothing from us.”

Within this framework, he emphasized that Resistance, rejecting occupation, and confronting corruption are “a matter of faith and of interest.”

He strongly condemned those who justify “Israel,” declaring “shame—utter shame” on those who do not pressure it to stop its aggression and who fail even to apply media pressure in support of the Palestinian people.

Concluding with Lebanon’s internal priorities, Sheikh Qassem stated that Hezbollah seeks a Lebanon that is “sovereign, free, independent, and capable.”

He called for “a strong army and an independent country,” while stressing dialogue, consensus, and national unity in confronting enemies—“at the very least, confronting the one enemy.”

He identified the immediate priority as stopping the aggression, ensuring “Israeli” occupation withdrawal, returning the detainees, and beginning reconstruction, after which a national strategy can be discussed.

He also called for holding parliamentary elections on time, returning depositors’ funds so they receive their money in full, arming the national army so it can confront enemies, and ensuring justice for public sector employees.

Gen. Solemani and Al-Muhandis: Commemorations on Sixth Anniversary

Like over the past five years, this year, too, memorial ceremonies were held for these two commanders in various countries. In Iraq, where they were assassinated at the direct order of the US President Donald Trump on January 3, 2020, various cities have become scenes to ceremonies, gatherings, and different programs commemorating these martyrs.

Baghdad and Basra, the birthplace of the martyr al-Muhandis, witnessed the largest public gatherings in affirmation of loyalty to the path of the two martyred commanders. Numerous commemorations were also held across other cities.

A ceremony honoring the memory of them was held at the Iranian embassy in Baghdad. It was attended by senior political figures, religious scholars, and diverse segments of the Iraqi populace.

In remarks at the event, Mohammad Kazem Al Sadeq, Iran’s Ambassador to Baghdad, stressed that these martyred commanders, through their own choice, charted a permanent path for confronting injustice and safeguarding sovereignty.

“Today, we are in the presence of two commanders who erased the artificial borders between the two nations and, with their blood and martyrdom, forged a bond of brotherhood between Iraq and Iran," Kazemi said.

Faleh al-Fayyadh, commander of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), stated at the ceremony: "Commemorating the martyrdom of the Victory Commanders is an occasion relevant to the entire world and is not confined to any specific region. The Victory Commanders are defenders of rights and humanity, and every free person should honor their memory."

Al-Fayyadh, noting that Iran stood alongside the Iraqi people and resisted terrorism, a" companionship worthy of appreciation", and referring to the stature of the martyrs Soleimani and al-Muhandis, emphasized that these commanders "drew the line of humanity" and upheld human values.

He added: "The memory and path of these martyrs must remain alive, for they gave their lives to honor all values and illuminate the path of resistance... Today, if we witness the global isolation of the Zionist regime, this situation has been achieved through the blessing of the blood of the great commanders and martyrs who, by their sacrifice, changed the course of history."

With reports and special programs, Iraqi media brought the event to the public focus. Large banner of General Solemani and his Iraqi companion were displayed along the roads leading to the Baghdad International Airport.

Baghdad's Martyrs' Memorial was decorated with images of the martyrs, broadly recognized as the "Victory Commanders," to mark the anniversary of their martyrdom.

Meanwhile, a major commemoration ceremony for the anniversary of the resistance commanders was held in the holy city of Najaf, attended by religious figures, scholars, and the public. The ceremony, organized in cooperation with the PMF and local committees in the holy city, featured Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Hosseini, the representative of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran Sayyed Ali Khamenei in Iraq, as the keynote speaker. The event also honored the companions of the two martyred commanders.

The gathering, held under the slogan "Martyrdom and Honor," emphasized the legacy of resistance, sacrifice, and unity embodied by the martyrs Soleimani and al-Muhandis. Speakers at the event highlighted the pivotal role these two commanders played in confronting terrorism and defending the sovereignty and dignity of the region's nations. It is noteworthy that they were the key figures leading fight against foreign-backed ISIS terrorist group in Iraq from 2014 to 2017.

The ceremony witnessed a widespread and passionate turnout, with scholars from the seminary, university students, and diverse segments of the public in attendance. The program included speeches, poetry recitations, and tributes to the families of martyrs from the seminary community and the resistance, stressing the lasting impact of the martyrs' path on current and future generations.

A commemoration ceremony was also held in the southern city of Basra. This year's event was decorated with photographs of one hundred Iranian martyrs who fell in the war against ISIS in Iraq. The ceremony saw extensive public and official participation, with figures including Asaad Al-Eidani, Governor of Basra, the head of PMF office in Basra Brigadier General Fadhil Saleh Al-Basiri, and Ayatollah Sheikh Abbas Kaabi, a member of Iran's Assembly of Experts, in attendance.

During this ceremony, various cultural and arts programs, including poem reciting, ritual songs, and speeches, were arranged all stressing the concepts of martyrdom, dignity, national sovereignty, and independence. Participants commemorated the two commanders and emphasized on continuing their path of maintaining independence, security, and dignity of the Islamic ummah.

In Iraq’s Diyala province, a symbolic military exercise organized by the PMF reaffirmed the enduring commitment to the path of the Victory Commanders. Meanwhile, across Iraqi social media, the persistent resharing of images and narratives reflects how the memory of these martyrs remains vividly alive in the country’s collective consciousness.

Commemorations from Pakistan to Moscow

Similar commemorations honoring the resistance martyrs were also held in other countries. In this context, the "Martyrs of Freedom" conference was held in Karachi, Pakistan, with broad participation from scholars, intellectuals, as well as religious and social activists.

Organized by the Imamia Students Organization Pakistan, speakers at the event paid tribute to the memory of the two commanders. They emphasized the importance of continuing their path in defense of Islamic values and preserving the dignity of the Islamic ummah.

The speakers honored the memory of the resistance commanders, outlining their personal, intellectual, and combative dimensions while emphasizing the martyrs' decisive historical role in confronting terrorism, global arrogance, and defending holy sites and shrines.

Ayatollah Sayyed Nazar Abbas Taqvi, Secretary-General of the Shia Scholars Council of Pakistan, highlighted the sacrifices of General Solemani and Al-Muhandis. He noted that the resolve of these great commanders not only strengthened security in Islamic nations but, by giving their lives in defense of the holy shrines, they made their memory and path everlasting.

Ayatollah Baqir Hussain Zaidi, the vice president of Pakistan's Jafriya Alliance, described the martyrdom of the resistance commanders and scholars as a proud link in the chain of Islamic history, reminding the audience that such sacrifices trace their roots to the movement of Ashura and martyrdom of the Prophet Muhammad's grandson Imam Hussein.

Simultaneously, in Russia, a group of intellectuals, officials, and political, cultural, academic, Muslim, and Christian figures marked the sixth anniversary by sharing their views on the enduring reasons behind General Solemani's lasting legacy.

Sergey Baburin, former Deputy Speaker of the State Duma and current Secretary-General of the Russian People's Union, stated at the event that General Qassem Soleimani neutralized the Judaization plan for Jerusalem and grounded the US-backed terrorists, which is why he faced the rage and wrath of Washington and Tel Aviv.

"Despite Trump's admission that he personally ordered the assassination of a general from an independent country on the soil of another sovereign state, the international community remained silent and took no action," he continued.

The Bishop of the Moscow Orthodox Church, the deputy head of the Sunni Muslim religious administration, and a gathering of intellectuals, Muslim and Christian scholars, as well as Russian cultural, political, and academic figures also spoke, describing the Iranian general as an enduring legacy for all humanity and a symbol of resistance against oppression and compassion.

For his part, Iran's Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali stated at the ceremony that "martyr Soleimani was a perfect reflection of humanism and a symbol of the fight against injustice in the world."

In addition, a 2,000-person gathering of tribal leaders in Bavi district of Khuzestan province south of Iran, attended also by special guests from Yemen, was held in the village of Sayed Sultan to pay tributes to the two commanders.

This major commemoration suggests that the sapling nurtured by General Solemani's struggle has now grown into a powerful, fruitful tree that strikes fear into the hearts of the enemies of the regional nations.

IRGC Vows Revenge for US Assassination of Gen. Soleimani on Martyrdom Anniversary

In a statement issued on Saturday on the sixth anniversary of the martyrdom of Lt. General Soleimani, the IRGC said the expansion and deepening of the name and memory of the late commander among Islamic societies and new generations in the region demonstrate the profound depth of the “Soleimani school of thought.”

The IRGC said the erosion of the political and security power of the system of domination and the collapse of the American order in the region and the world are the lasting outcomes of the impact of this martyr and the fighters of the resistance front.

It added that Donald Trump and the “bloodthirsty” Benjamin Netanyahu failed, through the cowardly assassination of the martyred commander, to eliminate his transcendent power or his path and influence.

According to the statement, the spirit of resistance has taken flight in pursuit of revenge against the killers of Martyr Soleimani and the pure souls of the martyrs of the resistance.

The spirit of General Soleimani flows within the body of the nations of the region, showing that more Al-Aqsa Storm operations lie ahead in the face of child-killing bullies, it added.

The IRGC stressed that the axis of resistance and the struggle against the Zionist regime across the world are inseparably linked with the name and memory of Martyr Soleimani.

Today, the Islamic resistance in Muslim countries has turned into a coherent, synergistic, and effective front, and the core ideal, spirit, and slogan of the Islamic resistance for the liberation of al-Quds are now being chanted globally under the hashtag “Free Palestine,” not only in the Islamic world but across Western countries and even in front of the White House, the IRGC stated.

Martyrs Soleimani and Al-Muhandis in the Thought of Imam Khamenei

Martyrs on the Path of Resistance

It is impossible to discuss the challenges of the 21st century in West Asia without highlighting the figures of martyrs Hajj Qassem Soleimani and Hajj Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, who became symbols of resistance against domination, colonialism, and terrorism in the region.

These martyrs were not only military leaders; they were also symbols of hope and unity in the face of major challenges. Their status is firmly established in the thought of Grand Ayatollah Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei, who, in numerous speeches, emphasizes their role and the significance of their martyrdom.

Leaders of Victories and the Message

Martyrs Soleimani and al-Muhandis played a pivotal role in combating the terrorist organization Daesh. Their shared vision helped establish a broad front of resistance against terrorism. They acted as one spirit in two bodies, achieving victories against the global-Zionist-terrorist project, which sought to divert attention from the central cause of the Ummah: Palestine.

In his speeches, Imam Khamenei describes Soleimani not only as an exceptional military commander but also as a symbol of rationality, courage, and devotion to God.

In one meeting with Soleimani’s family and organizers of his memorial, he said that Soleimani exemplified practical diligence, combining battlefield bravery with careful strategic reasoning. His reports were filled with substantial accomplishments reflecting this balance of courage and planning.

The Imam also emphasized that Soleimani’s sincerity and devotion were the essence of his school, noting that working sincerely for God alone made his name a global symbol in the Islamic world.

His Eminence stresses that Soleimani’s leadership was not limited to a single nation; he represented the entire Islamic Ummah. His popularity crossed borders, embraced by peoples throughout the region.

Status of the Martyrs After Their Death

After the martyrdom of Hajj Qassem and Hajj Abu Mahdi in the U.S. terrorist operation at Baghdad airport in January 2020, Imam Khamenei issued a strong condolence message, stating that their martyrdom was not an ordinary incident, but a luminous historical milestone in the path of resistance. He affirmed that the jihadist path of resistance would continue even stronger and that their blessed blood would guide the Ummah toward greater strength and deeper unity.

In other statements, the Imam highlighted that the Islamic Ummah should understand that the martyrdom of these great leaders is not the end, but the beginning of a new phase of resistance, and that their enemies will never erase their legacy.

Lessons and Strategic Vision

Analysis of Imam Khamenei’s thought shows that Soleimani’s school of thought was not limited to battlefield achievements but also included intellectual and cultural dimensions. From the Imam’s perspective, Soleimani’s defense of Iraq and Syria against terrorism was part of a broader mission to protect the Islamic Ummah’s identity.

Soleimani’s Traits from the Leader’s Perspective

Based on multiple analyses of Imam Khamenei’s speeches, key aspects of Martyr Soleimani’s character emerge:

• Sincerity: Martyr Soleimani worked solely for God, without ostentation or personal ambition.
• Representative: His funeral showed the world that Soleimani was not only a symbol for Iran but for the entire Islamic Ummah.
• Strength of Character: Martyr Soleimani played a pivotal role in shaping regional events, and his name became a symbol of revolution and resistance.

The words of Imam Khamenei can be read on more than one level (or from multiple dimensions):

1. Strengthening Identity and Principle: By emphasizing Martyr Soleimani as a sincere fighter and strategic leader, the discourse provides a model for confronting challenges.
2. Continuity, Not End: Imam Khamenei stresses that resistance did not stop after his martyrdom; the blood of the martyrs have amplified the momentum of the struggle.
3. International Dimension: The Imam portrays Martyr Soleimani as a symbol of Islamic solidarity, giving his legacy a global dimension as a figure of resistance against domination, not merely a local hero.

Impact of the Two Martyrs on Reality

The martyrdom of Soleimani and al-Muhandis revived public memory and energized resistance movements. Imam Khamenei repeatedly emphasized that their blood would not be wasted and that the Ummah would continue its journey with greater strength and awareness.

Their image in the collective memory of the people is not merely a commemoration but a symbol of hope and unity against foreign domination, reflected in marches and gatherings across Iraq, Iran, and other countries after their martyrdom.

Imam Khamenei described Soleimani’s martyrdom as a pivotal moment in the history of resistance:

“I will never forget the name of Martyr Soleimani; he is a figure who will remain alive in the memory of the Ummah. This martyrdom was a historic event, not a fleeting incident.”

In conclusion, the school of Martyrs Hajj Qassem Soleimani and Hajj Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis represents a long continuum of the resistance movement. It thrives in the minds of generations and forms an intellectual, cultural, and practical foundation for confronting arrogance and terrorism.

Through Imam Khamenei’s words, it is clear that their legacy encompasses not only battlefield achievements but also human values, unity, courage, and sacrifice for the sake of God-lessons that will continue to shape the discourse of resistance for generations to come.

Qassem Soleimani: Designing Deterrence in an Era of Global Hegemony

The assassination of Hajj Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force, near Baghdad International Airport in January 2020 was a major security event that cannot be separated from the broader developments in the region. It reflected the role Hajj Qassem played in shaping the balance of power in our region. To “Israel” and the United States, Hajj Qassem was not merely a military commander like other Iranian leaders; he was an operational military mind whose impact was profound and unmistakable in confronting “Israeli”–American military intervention in our countries, and a vital link connecting the arenas of resistance in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq.

Lebanon: From Resistance to Deterrence

In his eulogy for the martyr Hajj Qassem Soleimani and the martyr Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, delivered days after their martyrdom, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said, “When they come- meaning the Americans-to Lebanon, to the resistance, to the liberation of the year 2000, to the 2006 war, to the growing strength of the resistance in Lebanon, to its missile capabilities, its qualitative capacities, its precision missiles, its steadfastness and resilience, they find Qassem Soleimani.”

With these few words, Sayyed Nasrallah succinctly captured the pivotal role Hajj Qassem Soleimani played in supporting the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon-a role that manifested in the development of the resistance’s missile capabilities and in transforming the resistance from a posture of defense to one of deterrence.

Syria: Preventing the Collapse of the State and Preserving the Line of Resistance

In the same eulogy, Martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah added, “When they go to Syria, and when the United States and ‘Israel’ bet on the takfiri terrorists, alongside the Syrian army, the Syrian people, and the leadership in Syria, they find Qassem Soleimani.”

Hajj Qassem Soleimani viewed the battle against terrorist groups in Syria, which began in 2011, as a decisive struggle for the Axis of Resistance-particularly because Syria constitutes the supply line between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Lebanon, and because the fall of the Syrian regime would have meant that the resistance movements in the region would lose a state with a major and influential role in the balance of conflict with the “Israeli” enemy. Accordingly, Hajj Qassem contributed to the reorganization of the Syrian army, to field and political coordination between the Syrian regime and its allied forces, and to the planning of the decisive battles in the war against terrorism in Syria.

Iraq: Confronting Daesh as the Americans Colluded

On the issue of Daesh [Arabic acronym for the terrorist ISIL/ISIS] group, its expansion in Iraq, and Hajj Qassem’s role there, Martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah added in the same speech, “They want to take control of Iraq and manipulate the Iraqis through ISIS for decades. They find Qassem Soleimani. They bet on tearing the Iraqis apart, and they find someone who brings them together, who coordinates among them, who unifies them. They find Qassem Soleimani.”

When the terrorist organization ISIS swept into Mosul, Iraq, in 2014, Iraqi army units retreated before it, and the US forces present in Iraq refrained from intervening to support the Iraqis. This highlighted Hajj Qassem Soleimani’s role, as he intervened to prevent Iraq from falling into the hands of terrorism—supporting the formation of the Popular Mobilization Forces, coordinating the defense of the capital Baghdad, and also coordinating battles in key areas of Iraq such as Amerli, Jurf al-Sakhar, and Tikrit.

Palestine: The Compass of Jihadist Action

“Very well, they began preparing for Hajj Qassem when they conducted a study and concluded that whenever they went to the Axis of Resistance, wherever they turned, one name kept recurring: Qassem Soleimani. We go to Palestine, to Gaza, to the Palestinian resistance and its factions; to supporting the Palestinian resistance with weapons, training, and technological capabilities; to supporting the Palestinian cause through media, conferences, and relations, and to directing everything we have in the region toward Palestine-they find Qassem Soleimani.”

In this excerpt, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah makes clear that Palestine was the compass of Hajj Qassem’s jihadist project. Known as the “Martyr of Jerusalem,” a title given to him by the martyred head of Hamas’s Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, Hajj Qassem viewed Palestine as the meeting point of wills and resistance movements, the home of free hearts, and the central cause of the fighters of the ummah. He made no distinction among the Palestinian resistance factions, supporting them all with funding and weapons and transferring military expertise to them, until the balance of deterrence shifted and “Israel” was compelled to confront a resistance that was more capable and more organized.

Conclusion

In an Arab world collapsing and retreating day after day, and an Islamic world largely indifferent to its major existential causes; in a world where American arrogance tightened its grip and “Israel” ran rampant—occupying land and violating sanctities- Palestine and its resistance, along with all the resistance movements of the region, stood at the very center of the concerns of the martyred Hajj Qassem Soleimani. He emerged as a leader without equal, siding with the oppressed and with those who hold the land and the right, daring to confront forces that many cannot dare to face: the American hegemon and its “Israeli” protégé. It was therefore inevitable that they would seek to eliminate him—and they did. Yet the flame of Hajj Qassem is not extinguished by storms, nor can his memory be worn away by time.

Gen. Solemani, A Living Resistance Legacy

Defeat of ISIS project; birth of a modern model of resistance

The first, and perhaps most decisive turning point, was General Solemani's central role in thwarting a project that the US and the Israeli regime had pursued in the wake of ISIS’s rise. ISIS was not merely a terrorist group, it was the instrument of a grand geopolitical project aimed at redrawing the regional map, weakening central governments, fueling sectarian wars, and ensuring lasting security for the Israeli regime. Countering such a project was impossible through the logic of conventional armies alone. General Solemani understood this clearly. Rather than relying solely on hard power, he turned to popular mobilization.

He managed to unite the scattered will of nations, regardless of religion, sect, or ethnicity, around a “common and imminent threat.” From Iraq and Syria to Lebanon and beyond, a network of popular forces emerged, neither mercenaries nor proxies of occupiers, but defenders of their homes, identity, and future. This model defeated ISIS on the battlefield, and, more importantly, dismantled the social and psychological legitimacy of the project. Beyond that phase, this organized popular force then redirected its focus toward a greater cause: defending the oppressed Palestinian nation and confronting the Israeli regime.

Resistance structure's bonds to historical and identity roots of the region

The second transformation was the "structural" nature of what became known as the Axis of Resistance. Contrary to the assumptions of Western think tanks, it was neither a temporary alliance nor a purely military coalition that would collapse with the removal of a single commander. The anti-terror general built this structure upon the deep historical, sociological, and identity-based roots of the region's peoples. The Resistance camp reflected a public conviction: that resolving the Palestinian issue and ending the historical suffering of Muslim nations is impossible without eradicating the "cancerous tumor" of Israel as an imposed colonial project.

This discourse, while confronting Western interventions in Islamic countries, also erected a formidable barrier against the growth of takfiri extremism. Its distinguishing feature was its emphasis on "endogenous security", relying on the innate capacities of local peoples instead of foreign security umbrellas. Inspired by the discourse of the Islamic Revolution and the movement of Imam Hussein at Karbala, this logic provided a common language for all dignity-seeking and oppressed nations, a language that is understandable and acceptable even beyond the geography of Islam.

Resistance, a firm barrier to Balkanization of the Muslim world

The third transformation is the role of the Axis of Resistance in preserving the region's geopolitical stability. The Western-Israeli project of "fragmenting" Islamic nations has been pursued for years under various guise, from proxy wars to inflaming ethnic and sectarian divides. Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon, and Palestine have all been active stages for this scenario. In the face of this trend, the Resistance camp has become the primary bulwark, preventing the map of regional fragmentation from being fully realized.

With the return of Donald Trump's second administration, signs of a renewed push for what Washington calls "new Middle East" project and the Balkanization of the region have become increasingly apparent. It is a scenario that places securing the interests of the Israeli regime at the absolute forefront of American foreign policy. In such an environment, the importance of the structure Haj Qasem built has not diminished; it has become more critical than ever.

General Solemani after martyrdom still alive in current developments

Washington and Tel Aviv we're thinking that with assassination of the commander of the IRGC’s Quds Force the structure General Solemani established will immediately collapse. But the field realities have proven otherwise. On the sixth anniversary of his martyrdom that came with direct order from Trump at the Baghdad International Airport, General Solemani's discourse can be tracked in any political and social pro-resistance actions: From Hamas’s Operation Al-Aqsa Storm to 12-day Israeli-Iranian war in June, to the fierce resistance of the Lebanese to the Israeli aggression, to the rise of Yemen in support of Gaza, to Iraq where people voted for pro-resistance factions in November parliamentary elections, and even to the US where pro-Palestinian student protests were organized in many cities.

In this sense, a Quranic verse, [Al Imran, 169], is a clear description of this reality: "And never think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision." General Solemani is present today not just in memories but in the power dynamics, on the resistance battlegrounds fields, and in the awakened conscience of the nations. Perhaps it is this living presence that is rattling his enemies more than ever and has brought the region to this critical and decisive juncture.

Youth in Soleimani’s Creed: A Portrait of the Future

Soleimani understood early on that nations are not defeated on the battlefield alone. They are defeated when their youth lose their compass-when a new generation is stripped of meaning and purpose. From this conviction, engaging youth- practically and ethically-became a constant pillar of his journey.

Youth in the Thought of Soleimani and Abu Mahdi

Speeches by Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei on various occasions following Hajj Qassem’s martyrdom emphasize that this leader was himself a direct product of the Revolution’s trust in youth- and that he, in turn, reproduced this trust in subsequent generations. Soleimani saw in youth an energy that, when paired with faith and awareness, becomes an unconquerable force.
He did not treat young people as mere instruments of execution, but as partners in responsibility. According to accounts recorded in the memoirs of his companions, he often repeated in private gatherings that when a young person feels dignified, miracles can happen.

Martyr Hajj Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis shared the same vision. He regarded youth as the core of serving peoples and repeatedly stressed that Iraq’s strength begins with faithful, conscious youth. He remained close to them wherever he was- listening to their views, entrusting them with responsibility, and seeing them as the generation that would carry Iraq’s future with sincerity and courage.

His relationship with youth was not merely that of commanders to fighters; it was the bond of a father who nurtures and inspires. Hajj Qassem Soleimani held the same outlook: together, the two formed a single school that viewed youth as the cornerstone of protecting homelands and building the future—making them a priority for the nation’s advancement.

The Educator-Leader

One of the most distinctive aspects of Soleimani’s relationship with youth was his calm, formative approach. He did not rely on top-down commands, but on leadership by example. He led from the front, endured hardships, and shared the daily details of life with soldiers and fighters alike. This made him close to the hearts of young people—not merely respected, but genuinely loved.
Many of the youth who served under his command did not see him as only a military leader, but as an older brother or a spiritual father—someone who listened attentively to their concerns and guided them without belittlement or humiliation.

Faith in Identity and Meaning

At a time when youth identity has been subjected to sweeping cultural and media assaults, Soleimani emphasized—according to his messages and statements—the importance of holding fast to Islamic and national identity, not as slogans, but as sources of self-confidence and dignity.
On more than one occasion, he stressed that when young people lose their connection to their roots, they become easy prey for hegemonic projects. For this reason, he consistently linked religious awareness with national dignity and social responsibility.

From Frontlines of Defense to Arenas of Human Development

Soleimani’s concern for youth was not confined to battlefields. He believed that building the human being is no less important than protecting the land. Accordingly, he supported cultural and educational programs and encouraged the integration of knowledge with faith, academic specialization with moral commitment.

He was quoted as saying that a faithful, conscious young person is stronger than a tank—an expression of his belief that the real battle is one of awareness and will before it is one of weapons.

His Advice to the Youth: The Essence of a Lifetime

Hajj Qassem consistently urged youth not to be dazzled by the false glitter of power, but to hold fast to values, serve people, and defend the oppressed. He did not ask them to become copies of himself; rather, he called on each of them to be true to themselves and to shoulder responsibility in their own fields—whether in science, culture, or social service.

His Impact After Martyrdom

The martyrdom of Hajj Qassem Soleimani did not end his presence among the youth; it amplified it. He became a symbol of sincerity, steadfastness, and devotion—an example invoked in the face of despair.

In the years following his martyrdom, youth interest in his life and legacy has grown, accompanied by numerous cultural and literary works that portray him not as a distant, mythical hero, but as a human being who combined strength with humility, firmness with compassion.

Looking at the life of Martyr Hajj Qassem Soleimani through the lens of his relationship with youth reveals a leader who believed that the future of the Ummah is forged in the minds and hearts of the younger generation. He did not see youth as a problem, but as an opportunity; he addressed them not with fear, but with trust. He left them a moral and intellectual legacy affirming that the path to dignity begins with self-knowledge, adherence to values, and service to people. Thus, Hajj Qassem Soleimani was not only a martyr of the battlefield, but a martyr of education and human formation-and his message will remain alive as long as there are young people in the Ummah searching for meaning, role models, and hope.

Book on Gen. Soleimani: The Haj Qasem That I Knew

Published by Khat-e Moqaddam, the book is 168 pages long and also includes sixteen pages of related photographs.

It goes beyond the public image of the general and allows readers to meet the man: a humble friend, a dedicated soldier, and a person of profound faith and kindness.

This work, by Hojjatoleslam Ali Shirazi, chronicles a forty-year friendship with Martyr Haj Qasem Soleimani, revealing the man behind the commander.

Moving beyond official narratives and military strategies, it presents a portrait built from personal anecdotes, shared moments, and private virtues.

The book serves as an accessible gateway to understanding the personal character, deep loyalties, and human dimensions of one of Iran’s most significant contemporary personalities, as seen through the eyes of his closest companion.

"The Haj Qasem That I Knew" is a unique and personal portrait of one of Iran's most prominent contemporary figures.

This perspective is seen through the eyes of his closest companion, the author Hojjatoleslam Ali Shirazi. The book tells the story of a forty-year friendship between the author and Martyr Haj Qasem Soleimani.

Reading it makes you realize how special this friendship was, as many important people, both inside and outside Iran, wished to have a connection with Gen. Soleimani.

The book shows that Haj Qasem truly loved the people, not just in his speeches, but through his real actions.

His deep care for the people, especially those from the Kerman region, becomes very clear as you read the author's memories.

In a deeply moving meeting with the family of Martyr Soleimani, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei shared a powerful story from this book.

The story showed Soleimani's incredible kindness and sense of duty.

The Leader explained that when a friend's grandson needed surgery, Haj Qasem went to the hospital and waited the entire time. Even after the surgery was finished, he stayed until the child woke up.

He told the boy's mother, "Your father was martyred instead of me, so now I stand here in his place." This memory gives readers a clear look at the true character of this beloved national hero, and it is just one of many personal stories shared in this important work.

The friendship between the two men started during the Iran-Iraq War, known in Iran as the Sacred Defense. They first met in 1982 in the city of Ahvaz.

At that time, Soleimani was a military commander giving a speech, and Shirazi was a young cleric who had just arrived at the war front.

Their relationship grew stronger over the next few years. By 1986, Soleimani asked Shirazi to lead the propaganda work for his military unit. Their partnership continued long after the war ended.

In fact, in 2011, Soleimani personally asked Shirazi to take on the important role of representing the Leader within the Quds Force. This meant the author worked directly with Haj Qasem during eight very critical years for the region.

The main part of the book is divided into twelve chapters, each focusing on a different side of Haj Qasem's personality.

The author tells his stories in a simple and friendly way, connecting various memories to paint a complete picture of how Soleimani lived and interacted with others.

The first chapter, called "The Great Martyrdom," covers the day Haj Qasem was martyred and how the author received the tragic news.

The second chapter, "A Good Life," describes Soleimani's personal and family life, including how he behaved with his wife and children.

Because the author's family was close with Haj Qasem's family, he shares details that are not widely known.

The third chapter is titled "The Children's Uncle" and it focuses on the special love and attention Soleimani always showed to the children of other martyrs. The fourth chapter has the name "Devoted to the People."

This section explores the endless love Haj Qasem had for the people of Iran and is one of the most beautiful parts of the book.

It includes a famous story about a time when many people were asking Soleimani to run for President of Iran.

When the author told him about these requests, Haj Qasem firmly refused. He stated, "Soleimani is only a soldier, nothing more!" He even added that if the Leader ordered him to run, he would go and cry in front of him until the order was taken back, showing his great humility.

The fifth chapter, "The Man of Hard Tasks," talks about Soleimani's strong work ethic and his efforts in military fields across Iran and the Middle East. Following that, the chapter on "Conduct and Behavior" explains his manners and how he dealt with different people and difficult situations.

Another chapter, "Lover of the Ahl al-Bayt," is dedicated to his deep religious devotion to the family of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). In "An Earnest Shia," the author writes about the high respect Haj Qasem had for Shia religious scholars.

The chapter named "The Medal of Paradise" discusses the time Soleimani received Iran's highest military honor, the "Zolfaghar" medal, and his humble reaction to this award. The book also looks at his interests outside the military.

"Man of the Cultural Front" shares his views on culture and his strong belief in the importance of reading books. Then, "Courageous in the Political Arena" describes his brave approach to political matters.

The final chapter covers the massive and historic funeral procession for Haj Qasem, which was a huge public display of grief and respect. Overall, this book provides an essential and intimate look at a man who was much more than a commander.

Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani, who commanded the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps, was assassinated alongside Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis on the morning of Friday, January 3rd, 2020.

Reflecting on his legacy, Ayatollah Khamenei, has emphasized that "Martyr Soleimani was the lifeblood of the Resistance Front. His comprehensive support—materially, spiritually, and morally—safeguarded, strengthened, and rejuvenated this enduring and expanding movement of Resistance against the Zionist regime, American hegemony, and other arrogant powers."

Through his leadership of Iran's regional efforts and his extensive assistance to nations in the area, Gen. Soleimani played a pivotal role in the defeat of ISIL in Iraq and Syria and helped to curb the expansion of terrorism backed by the United States.

Former Russian Lawmaker Says Gen. Soleimani Thwarted Plan to Judaize Al-Quds

The gathering brought together Russian thinkers, political figures, cultural and academic personalities, and Muslim and Christian clerics to discuss the enduring legacy of Gen. Soleimani’s “school of thought,” according to Iran’s embassy in Moscow.

According to the embassy, the event was hosted and organized by Sergei Baburin, a former deputy speaker of the State Duma and current secretary general of the Russian People’s Union party.

Russia’s Sunni Muslim Religious Directorate and grassroots activists supporting the liberation of Al-Quds also took part in organizing the ceremony.

Opening the event, Baburin said General Soleimani had “neutralized the plan to Judaize Al-Quds and grounded the terrorists supported by the United States,” adding that this was why the Iranian commander had drawn the “anger and wrath of the United States and Israel.”

He added that despite previous US President Donald Trump’s admission that he personally ordered the assassination of “a general of an independent country on the soil of another independent country,” the international community “remained silent and showed no reaction.”

Meanwhile, Baburin referred to US and Israeli aggression against Iranian territory, saying that this year the United States had again violated all principles of international law by carrying out missile and air strikes against Iranian cities and residents, while international institutions and human rights organizations again remained silent.

“This shows the terrorist nature of a state that makes the greatest misuse of the silence and inaction of the international community and so-called human rights organizations,” Baburin said.

Highlighting the role of General Soleimani in defending Islamic values, Baburin described the late commander as a warrior against “global evil.”

He said Soleimani taught the world how to confront a hypocritical, multi-faced entity, of which global Zionism was a key part.

“We must continue his path, which ultimately leads to the liberation of Al-Quds as the capital of Palestine and the end of Zionist occupation,” he added.

Separately, Iran’s ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, described Soleimani as a complete reflection of humanitarian values and a symbol of the struggle against injustice in the world.

In another address, Ozgur Bursali, secretary general of Turkey’s Vatan Party, said Soleimani was a widely known figure whose fight against imperialism and Zionism had tied his name to the defense of the oppressed and made him popular among freedom seekers worldwide.

Meanwhile, a bishop of the Moscow Orthodox Church, a deputy head of Russia’s Sunni Muslim Religious Directorate, and a number of Russian Muslim and Christian scholars, as well as cultural, political and academic figures, described Soleimani as a lasting legacy for all humanity and a symbol of resistance to oppression and commitment to human dignity.
